How Relay Modules Work

A relay module acts as a switch that can turn lights on or off by using a low-power control signal to operate a higher voltage or current circuit. When the control signal energizes the relay coil, the internal contacts either close or open, completing or interrupting the circuit to the lighting load. Relays can be electromagnetic or solid-state, chosen based on durability, response time, and switching frequency.

For example: 5V Light Sensitive Relay Module: Uses a photodiode and LM393 voltage comparator to switch the relay on or off depending on brightness. The trip-point can be adjusted with a potentiometer, and the module provides both Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) contacts for flexible load control.

24V LDR Relay Module: Uses a light-dependent resistor to detect light intensity. Bright light lowers the LDR resistance, signaling the relay to switch off, while darkness increases resistance, triggering the relay to switch on. This module is suitable for industrial equipment and automation systems requiring stable voltage and reliable operation.
