Connect 5 wires to the distribution box

To connect five wires in a distribution box, identify the live, neutral, and earth wires, then connect them to the main MCB, RCCB, and load MCBs according to the wiring sequence while ensuring safety and proper labeling.

Step-by-

Step Connection

Turn Off Main Power Always ensure the main power supply is switched off before starting any wiring to prevent electrical shock. Identify the Wires Typically, the five wires include: Live (Phase) wire – usually brown or redNeutral wire – usually blue or blackEarth wire – green/yellowTwo additional wires – may be for specific loads or secondary circuits Connect to Main MCBConnect the incoming live wire to the input terminal of the main MCB. Connect the incoming neutral wire to the neutral link or the input of the RCCB if used.

Connect RCC

B (if present)The output of the main MCB goes to the input of the RCCB. Connect the neutral wire from the main supply to the neutral terminal of the RCCB.

The RCC

B output will then feed the branch MCBs. Connect Branch MCBsFor single-pole MCBs, connect only the phase wire from the RCCB output to the MCB input. For double-pole MCBs, connect both phase and neutral wires from the RCCB output to the MCB input.

Connect the load wires to the output terminals of the respective MCBs.

Connect Earth Wire

Connect the earth wire to the earth bus bar or earth link in the distribution box. Ensure any metallic parts of the box are also earthed for safety.

Wire Organization and Safety Checks

Use plastic ties to neatly bind wires and maintain uniform spacing. Label each wire according to its function to avoid confusion. After wiring, use a multimeter to verify connections and check for short circuits or loose connections.

Final Verification

Ensure all MCBs and RCCBs are in the OFF position before turning on the main supply. Gradually switch on the main MCB and then the branch MCBs, checking each circuit for proper operation. Following this sequence ensures that all five wires are safely and correctly connected, providing proper protection and distribution of electricity in your home or office.
