Pre-twisted wires for optical cable accessories

Pre-twisted wire accessories are specialized clamps and fittings designed to securely suspend, anchor, and protect ADSS and OPGW optical cables on poles and towers. Purpose and FunctionPre-twisted wire accessories are used to suspend, anchor, and protect optical cables in overhead installations. They prevent cable damage, ensure uniform stress distribution, and enhance stability under environmental loads such as wind, ice, or vibration.

These accessories are essential for maintaining the integrity of fiber optic communication lines, especially in long spans, corner towers, or heavy ice areas.

Types of Pre-

Twisted Wire Accessories

Tension Clamps (Dead-End Clamps): Used to anchor cables at terminal towers or tight-line tension points. Composed of inner and outer stranded wires with a pull ring. Grip strength can reach over 95% of the cable's ultimate tensile strength without causing stress concentration or vibration damage.

Suspension Clamps: Used to hang cables on insulator strings or pole towers. Can replace traditional boat-type suspension clamps. Features include large grip force, lightweight design, small corona, and minimal magnetic loss, suitable for high-voltage lines and long spans.

Backup Clamps for OPG

W: Provide additional safety in critical crossing spans. Pre-twisted wires form a hollow tube with sand-coated inner surfaces for secure grip. Available in single-layer or two-layer designs depending on load and span requirements.

Down-

Lead Clamps and Joint Boxes: Used for fixed installation of cables leading up or down poles. Protect fiber joints and store reserved fibers, preventing environmental damage. Available in hat-type or horizontal optical cable joint boxes.

Installation Considerations

Span Lengths: Short spans (200m): double-layer pre-twisted wire suspension clamps with armor grip and vibration dampers. Angle of Installation: Recommended for line corners ≤30°; tangent installations ≤15° for horizontal or vertical changes. Material: Aluminum-clad steel or high-impact PVC for durability, earthquake resistance, and environmental protection.

Key Features

Uniform stress distribution to prevent cable wear. High grip strength without damaging fibers. Lightweight and corrosion-resistant materials.

Suitable for high-voltage lines, heavy ice areas, and long-span projects. Can include accessories like vibration dampers, thimbles, D-shackles, and pole attachments for enhanced stability. Pre-twisted wire accessories are critical for reliable, long-term performance of overhead optical cables, ensuring both mechanical stability and fiber protection in diverse environmental conditions.
