A distribution box wiring diagram shows the main power input connected to a main MCB, followed by an RCCB for protection, and then individual MCBs distributing power to various circuits, with proper neutral and earth connections. Components of a Distribution BoxMain MCB (Double Pole): Acts as the main switch, typically rated 63A for domestic installations, connecting the incoming phase and neutral supply to the board.

RCC

B (Residual Current Circuit Breaker): Provides protection against leakage currents, electrical shocks, and insulation faults. Usually rated 30mA for single-phase domestic setups.

Bs: Distribute power to individual circuits such as lighting, sockets, and appliances. Neutral Link: Distributes the neutral wire to all output circuits. Earth Link: Connects the earth wires from the supply and all loads to ensure safety.

Wiring Procedure

Turn Off Main Power: Ensure the main supply is disconnected before starting any wiring. Connect Incoming Supply: Connect the phase and neutral wires from the utility to the input terminals of the main MCB.

Connect Main MCB to RCC

B: The output of the main MCB is connected to the input of the RCCB to provide overall protection.

Connect RCCB to Output MC

Bs: The output of the RCCB is distributed to individual MCBs for each circuit. Neutral and Earth Connections: Connect all neutral wires from the output circuits to the neutral bus bar and all earth wires to the earth bus bar. Label Circuits: Clearly label each MCB according to the circuit it controls for easy identification and maintenance.

Safety Tips

Always use insulated tools and wear protective gear. Verify that the main power is off before touching any wires. Ensure proper earthing to prevent electrical hazards.

Follow the color coding for wires: typically red/brown for phase, black/blue for neutral, and green/yellow for earth.

Diagram Overview

A typical single-phase distribution box wiring diagram shows: Incoming phase and neutral → Main MCB → RCCB → Output MCBs → Individual circuits. Neutral wires from each MCB connect to the neutral bus bar. Earth wires from each load connect to the earth bus bar.

Special loads may use double-pole MCBs if required. This setup ensures safe distribution of electricity, protection against overloads and leakage, and organized wiring for easy troubleshooting and maintenance.
