Material Selection and Enclosure Production

Plastic distribution boxes are typically made from ABS or polycarbonate, chosen for their insulation, impact resistance, and durability for indoor and outdoor use. The production begins with design and mold making, where CAD software is used to define the box dimensions, internal compartments, and cable entry points. The molds are usually made of steel or aluminum, with the outer mold shaping the exterior and the inner mold forming the interior space.

Injection molding is then used to produce the box, followed by cooling, ejection, and finishing steps to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface quality.

Component Installation

Inside the box, essential components such as circuit breakers, switches, terminal blocks, and DIN rails are mounted. These components divide the main power supply into separate circuits, each protected against overload or short circuits. For boxes with electronic monitoring or climate control, fans, filters, and thermostats may be integrated to maintain optimal temperature and humidity.

Transparent windows or access doors allow operators to monitor the system without exposing it to external hazards.

Sealing and Protection

To ensure IP65 or higher protection, sealing foams are applied to grooves and edges using precise dosing systems. Polyurethane or silicone-based foams create a tight seal that protects electronics from dust, moisture, and extreme weather conditions. The foam maintains resilience even after repeated opening and closing, ensuring long-term protection and compliance with IP and NEMA standards.

Quality Control and Testing

After assembly, each box undergoes inspection for dimensional accuracy, sealing integrity, and component functionality. This includes checking for proper alignment of DIN rails, secure mounting of breakers, and verification of thermal management systems. Outdoor boxes may also be tested for UV resistance, water ingress, and impact resistance.

Only after passing these checks are the boxes packaged for distribution.
