Samoa Manufacturer of Standard Optical Cables in Conduit

Samoa is a notable exporter of optical fibres and cables, but there is no publicly listed local manufacturer of standard optical cables in conduit.

Market Overview

Samoa exported $10. 8 million of optical fibres and cables in 2024, making it the 49th largest exporter globally and the second most exported product from Samoa that year, with major destinations including Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia. Imports of optical fibres and cables totaled $1.

56 million, primarily from China, Chinese Taipei, and Indonesia. This indicates a strong domestic demand for optical cable infrastructure, often supplemented by imports.

Key Infrastructure and Projects

The Samoa Submarine Cable Company (SSCC) plays a central role in the country's optical fibre network, operating submarine cables such as the Tui-Samoa cable connecting Samoa to Fiji and other Pacific islands.

SSC

C focuses on providing wholesale capacity to telecommunications operators rather than manufacturing cables locally, ensuring high-quality connectivity and supporting ICT development. Additionally, Samoa participates in the Manatua Consortium, a regional initiative linking Samoa, the Cook Islands, Niue, and French Polynesia via high-capacity fibre optic cables. This project emphasizes deployment, operation, and maintenance of submarine cables rather than local cable production.

Trade and Supply

While Samoa exports optical fibres and cables, the country also imports a significant portion of its optical cable needs, including insulated and conduit-ready cables, from international suppliers such as China and Indonesia. This suggests that most standard optical cables in conduit are likely sourced externally rather than manufactured domestically.

Conclusion

Currently, Samoa does not appear to have a publicly listed manufacturer of standard optical cables in conduit. Businesses or individuals seeking such products in Samoa typically rely on imports or work with infrastructure providers like SSCC for deployment. For procurement or market insights, contacting SSCC or consulting market reports on Samoa's optical fibre and conduit market may provide guidance on suppliers and distributors.
