Cable Lugs And Connectors

Requirements for grounding wire lugs of optical cable connectors

This guide explains how to perform ground lug installation to meet NEC requirements and pass field inspections. You will get code level clarity, step by step procedures, torque data, compliance requirements, and selection criteria for industrial use. If you specify, install, or procure grounding. This Applications Engineering Note (AE Note) discusses conventional bonding and grounding practices for conductive fiber optic cable and hardware installations within the scope of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Any cable that includes any conductive metal must be properly grounded and bonded in conformance with the. Cable lugs are conductive terminals used to connect cables to busbars, circuit breakers, batteries, switchgear, terminal blocks, grounding points, and power distribution equipment.

Optical cable connectors and optical fiber connectors

Optical fiber connectors are used to join optical fibers where a connect/disconnect capability is required. Due to the and tuning procedures that may be incorporated into optical connector manufacturing, connectors are often assembled onto optical fiber in a supplier's manufacturing facility. However, the assembly and polishing operations involved can be performed in the field, for example, to long runs at a.
