Vertical Network Cabinet Dimensions and Specifications

Vertical network cabinets are modular enclosures designed to house IT and networking equipment, typically available in various heights, widths, and depths, with features for airflow, cable management, and secure mounting.

Standard Dimensions

Height: Vertical cabinets are often measured in rack units (RU), with common sizes including 8RU, 12RU, 24RU, 42RU, and higher for floor-standing models. Width: Standard widths are 19 inches for rack-mounted equipment, with some cabinets supporting 21” or 23” rails for specialized setups. Depth: Depths vary from 18 inches (wall-mount) to 30 inches or more (floor-standing) to accommodate servers, switches, and storage devices.

Load CapacityWall-mounted vertical cabinets typically support up to 150 lbs for compact edge computing setups. Floor-standing cabinets can handle static loads up to 3000 lbs, suitable for dense server configurations.

Construction and Materials

Cabinets are generally made from sheet steel or aluminum, with powder-coated finishes in black or white. Doors may be perforated or vented to allow front-to-rear airflow, with hinge options allowing up to 180° opening and reversible mounting. Side panels can be screw-fastened or quick-release, often with security locks and optional internal latches.

Cable and Power Management

Vertical cabinets include integrated cable management, such as vertical cable managers, plastic cable rings, and trays adjustable in depth. Power distribution units (PDUs) can be mounted in Zero-U space or on rear rails, optimizing space and airflow. Many cabinets allow tool-less installation of cable trays and accessories for flexible configuration.

Airflow and Cooling

Cabinets are designed to minimize air leakage and optimize cooling efficiency, often with perforated doors and optional airflow management packages. Some models separate cold and hot air paths to enhance energy efficiency and prevent recirculation. Mounting and AccessibilityWall-mount cabinets sit close to the wall (e.g., 18 inches) while still supporting deep equipment.

Floor-standing cabinets are bayable on all sides, allowing contiguous rows without increasing overall width. Doors can open 60° to 180° depending on standalone or connected configuration, providing easy access for maintenance.

Compliance and Standards

Cabinets comply with UL 94 HB, V0, or V2 for plastic components and meet RoHS material restrictions.

Standardized DI

N 25 mm pitch mounting holes ensure compatibility with most rack-mounted IT equipment. Vertical network cabinets are highly modular, allowing customization for height, depth, cable management, airflow, and security, making them suitable for both edge computing and full-scale data center deployments.
